Mexico Mission
Touching Lives with God’s Love
On Sept. 13, about 15 members of the congregation, our Mexico Mission Team, will travel to Mexico to build on the foundation laid in Jesus Christ.
Over the course of eight days and 2,500 miles, we will:
- share the Good News with all whom we encounter
- distribute Spanish-language Bibles
- provide needed supplies, and—yes!
- build a home for a family!
For no one can lay any foundation
other than the one already laid,
which is Jesus Christ.
—1 Corinthians 3:11
You don’t have to make the trip to make a difference. Here’s how you can be a part of this ministry:
- support the Mexican Dinner Fundraiser at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Aug. 17, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- donate school supplies (crayons, paper, pens, pencils and erasers)
- donate toiletries (combs, brushes, toothbrushes, sample/hotel size shampoo, conditioner, lotion and toothpaste)
- donate stickers or candy for the children
- donate good used or new blankets
- donate money—the trip will cost approximately $8,500
- PRAY for the Team.
The trip is connected to the work of an organization called Amor Ministries. Here is a little bit about its mission, according to its Web site:
This is Amor
Jesus calls us to a continuous life of service. Period. Stop making excuses, put down the remote and come serve the oppressed, the hurting, and the lonely to live the life you’ve been designed for…now.
Let Amor Ministries help you begin by serving your neighbors in Mexico.
Since 1980, Amor’s mission has remained the same. God has called us to build his Church, and we do that by responding to the spiritual and physical poverty in the world.
Our very name means love. We choose to show God’s love through simple, tangible acts of service. Amor demonstrates to the poor the same grace we all received through Jesus. We are committed to be like Christ as we:
- provide educational and mission experiences that radically change people.
- eradicate spiritual and physical poverty.
- impact the future of the church.
As we carry out this mission, we realize that building a house isn’t just providing shelter. It’s a step toward Jesus and obedience to the one thing he asked us to build. HIS CHURCH.
