Shepherd of the Hills (SOTH) Faith Formation Youth Director aims to:

  • Share the gospel with young people within Shepherd of the Hills and the community.

  • Guide and support young people in their spiritual journey to discipleship.

  • Model the Christian life for youth and serve as their mentor and teacher.

  • Be involved in the planning and implementing of youth programs at Shepherd of the Hills.

Organizational Alignment:

The SOTH Faith Formation Youth Director (FFYD) serves under the leadership of the Shepherd of the Hills Council and reports to the Pastor for theological and spiritual guidance, and day-to-day support. This position aligns under the leadership of the Education Ministry Team, led by a member of the Council.

Time Commitment:

The position is based on an average of 20 hours a week compensation during the school year.  Weekly time commitment is determined by programming duties and scheduled youth activities.  A limited amount of summer scheduling may be needed to attend Youth conferences or events. 

Major Responsibilities: 

The following are major responsibilities of the job. The Pastor or SOTH Council will review the responsibilities of the job annually or as requested by the Education Ministry Team.

  • Organize and implement monthly youth group events and activities for Middle School and Senior High students for a variety of purposes, included but not limited to service projects, themed bible study focus, or seasonal even. The right individual will be self-motivated and self-directed.  Pastor and the SOTH Education Team will provide overall guidance and support. The right person for the job will be able to complete task with a minimum of day-to-day oversight.

  • Personable and outgoing with an ability to relate well to people of all ages so that we can build the body of Christ, recruit volunteers, and develop future leaders.

  • Working understanding of social media platforms and technology so that we can promote and communicate youth programming quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of post-secondary coursework or experience in a related field. Training or experience in working with youth is preferred.
